Based at the Spadeadam Test site since June 2012, I have experience of working on a large range of pressurised systems as well as assisting in the maintenance, inspection and operation of the systems. My experience at Spadeadam includes work on varying large and small scale projects many of which involve pressurised gases and liquids. During my career I have had involvement with numerous gases and liquids such as Natural Gas, High Pressure Nitrogen, LPG, CO2, H2S (sour gases) as well as in-depth involvement with cryogenic liquids such as LNG, Liquid Hydrogen and Liquid Nitrogen. Most pressure systems I have worked on are up to 165 barg but have also been involved in pressure testing upto PSIG as well as low pressure domestic work downstream and upstream of the meter in the various different pressure tiers IP, MP and LP. I have also carried out a lot of work at transmission pressure of 70 barg. Most recently I have also been heavily involved with gaseous hydrogen as part of the H21 project in collaboration between Northern Gas Networks (NGN) and DNV amongst other various partners and also the FutureGrid Project for National Gas. Another large part of my career was spent as a Hazard Awareness Technician carrying out numerous demonstrations for various clients/customers who attend the bespoke Hazard Awareness Training courses that Spadeadam Testing and Research offers. Such demonstrations include; jet fires, pool fires, gas dispersions, gas explosions and many more. Other work I am involved in includes purging, mechanical isolations, pressure testing (hydrostatically and pneumatic), pipe fitting, hydraulics, pneumatics, plant operation, valve refurbishment, and being involved in setting up tests alongside the wider project team at Spadeadam. Training qualifications include IOSH Working Safely, IOSH Managing Safely, NEBOSH Process Safety, Compex Ex11 Mechanical, CCN1 core domestic natural gas safety and appliances and CCLP1 core domestic LPG safety and appliances (carried out at SGAS Blackpool), CSCS trained operator for Telehandler ( & suspended load), CITB Managers & Professionals card and many more bespoke courses.
