About James Carr

Experienced senior art director, creative director, designer, creative technologist, photographer and video editor. Specialist skills in shooting and building VR tours and experiences. I'm currently available for freelance, contract or full-time work. I graduated from DIT (now TU Dublin) with an honours degree in Visual Communications (design and photography). Over the past 20+ years, I've worked as a designer, art director, developer, animator, creative director, photographer, editor and creative technologist for brands such as Fáilte Ireland, SKY, LIDL, Tourism Northern Ireland, Virgin Media, EBS, IDA, RSA, Topaz, An Post, Vodafone, Guinness, Bank of Ireland, Budweiser, Bord Bia, Aer Lingus, Tesco, UPC and Nokia. I have led creative teams, developed experiential and interactive technology to launch brands, edited online and social content, created interactive rich-media pieces, brought data to life with bespoke gesture-based interfaces, developed intuitive IA, UI and great UX, made virtual realities and immersive games and created Ireland’s first augmented reality press ads. The VR experience I art-directed and shot for Marble Arch Caves was an Honoree in the 2022 Webby Awards - Best 360 Video. I also teach a module on Creative Technology as part of the MSc. In Advertising and Creativity at TU Dublin.
