About James Chesson

James Chesson is a field engineer/ mass transit, bridge inspector and technical writer with 20 years of experience on major projects in the greater New York metropolitan area, including Positive Train Control, the East Side Access Project, the Air Train to JFK airport, and the high-speed rail construction necessary for Amtrak’s Acela service. He has experience in structural steel construction, lagging and formwork, concrete placement (ACI certified), rebar work, slurry and secant piles, micro tunneling, electrical duct banks, catenary structures and suspension bridges. At the East Side Access, Mr. Chesson was involved daily in quality control field inspection in Sunnyside, which included assuring the contractor’s adherence to all specifications, codes and standards, and RFI’s. He is also a qualified OSHA safety inspector. Mr. Chesson, with a background in journalism, has written publications for various engineering firms, and recently, been a technical writer for the high profile Positive Train Control project.Mr. Chesson was also the corporate writer for Aecom, writing brochures, project descriptions, newsletters and speeches for the CEO.
