About James Codeglia

Hello! I'm James Codeglia, a freelance Director of Photography who owns a Red and has shot hundreds of projects for the web, television, and the silver screen. I’m also happy as a Camera Operator, AC, DIT, or practically any other department. I’ve worked for Disney, Bad Robot, Paramount, Warner Brothers, Lucasfilm, History Channel, Funny or Die, Toyota and others. I own a RED “Weapon” 8K Monstro VistaVision camera. It beats older Reds in low-light, color, slow motion, and is lighter and quieter than ever. It can natively record ProRes and DNxHR so you can edit immediately after shooting! It’s built for high-end cinema and smaller projects alike. I’ve worked for J.J. Abrams at Bad Robot for several years filming behind-the-scenes material for “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” and “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” During this time I worked on many projects for J.J. Abrams including stop-motion animation, viral and experimental videos, short films, TV shows and movies. My Blu-ray featurettes for “Star Trek Into Darkness” helped win a Satellite Award for “Best Blu-ray.” I spent four years as a full-time employee for Disney shooting and editing viral videos and TV ads such as “Mickey Mouse Brings Magic to NYC” and “Darth Vader Goes to Disneyland!” Some narrative credits include “Krantz” by Christopher Cantwell (creator of Halt and Catch Fire), the award-winning film “Thumb,” and the recent music video “Alive” by Empire of the Sun which has 72 million views on YouTube.
