About James Colner

My principal area of practice is business and personal injury litigation with extensive jury trial experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants in complex tort and business cases. I am actively engaged in a wide variety of business litigation and the defense of nursing home liability claims, product liability claims and the prosecution and defense of other tort claims. I am also involved in serving as a mediator of business and tort claims. With over 36 years of prosecuting and defending tort and business cases throughout the State of Ohio, I am well qualified to serve as a mediator and help those with litigation clients reach a fair and reasonable out-of-court settlement. My experience on both sides of the aisle provides a balanced perspective to bring litigants together in mediation. Currently, I serve as co-counsel in the representation of numerous charter school boards in a case against a management company to account for the expenditure of public monies. This is a groundbreaking case of first impression that was recently accepted for review by the Ohio Supreme Court and could fundamentally change the charter school laws entirely. I am board certified as a Civil Trial Advocate by the National Board of Trial Advocacy, the only civil trial certification recognized by the Ohio Supreme Court. I also serve as Treasurer for the Ohio Chapter of the American Board of Trial Advocates and have been a regular presenter at the Masters in Trial program for the past several years.
