About James Connor

I now live in Bangor, Northern Ireland. I now work for NI Water in Area 2. I worked at Mash Direct in the food industry as a maintenance engineer. I was part of an STS (Ship to Shore Cranes) commissioning team (Electrical and Controls Technician) at Peel Ports Liverpool, working on the Liverpool 2 project, which was an exciting insight into the functions of a container port operation. During my time as an Electrical Apprentice, Electrician and Electrical Technician at Land and Marine Engineering, I worked in the many and varied fields of Electrical Engineering. My career has involved working at their base, on contracts around the UK and abroad. The work was both onshore and offshore. I enjoyed all aspects of the varied and challenging opportunities, whether it was working as a self-motivated person or as a flexible team member. I gained 10+ years’ experience in the oil and gas industry. My work and experiences has consisted of, but is not limited to- Offshore vessels, including barges and ships Generators and switchover systems Direct online, star delta and soft start motor systems Working on marine (subsea) systems, including ROV’s and crawlers Directional drilling rigs Pulling winches to the capacity of 600 tonnes Pressure transducers for analogue to digital readout Solenoids, contactors, overload protection and relays Heating, ventilation & air conditioning systems Industrial freezer and refrigerator systems Electrical installations Inspection and Testing Fault diagnosis and rectification AC three phase and single phase circuits DC circuits Portable appliance testing Using and creating complex electrical schematics, diagrams, schedules and manuals.
