About James David Templeton

I am a collaborator, manager, musician and educator. I am a manager in many performance areas including theatre, opera, ballet, and music. Stemming from my training and education in classical music I have a keen interest in being a manager in opera. I strive to lead teams with respect and collaboration and create an environment where my team feels supported, heard, and valued during all parts of the creative process. I love to teach and create environments where team members are able to learn and grow as they do their work. I also take the time to guide team members with any questions they may have in regards to the production process or general questions about the industry. I have a passion for making sure everyone is included where I work. For my thesis I am exploring DEI (Diversity, Equity and Inclusion) within American Opera. I am looking into how the Director of Production can foster positive changes across all production departments within the opera industry.
