About James Davies

I have a fairly diverse background. I grew up on a small cattle outfit in Southern Alberta, but I've spent most of my adult life in larger cities. I've worked construction, I was a foreman for a company that did maintenance work in the oil field, and I worked on a drilling rig while attending University. Since I was graduated from University, I've worked in Materials Management, Contracts and Procurement, Accounting and Financial Controller roles, Business Analyst (Information Technology focus) roles, and Project Services in Construction Projects. I'm comfortable working with executives in a corporate head office environment or rubbing shoulders with mechanics in a Refinery. I pride myself on being able to go into a business and make it better. While working at the Waterton Gas Plant, I revamped every business process at the plant level and was instrumental in taking it from average in it's benchmark efficiencies to top quartile. I returned several years later as the Business Manager, built on the processes I'd implemented, and we went from top quartile to tied for best in the world. I was asked to go into the Materials Management Department at ENMAX and revitalize it. After two months the VP of Operations commented to the Financial Controller that he couldn't believe the difference. I was asked to take a Manager role in Project Controls for a multi-billion dollar portfolio as the department was struggling. After a year my boss described the department as 'world class'.
