About James Erasmus
I am a South African national who has been living and working in France since 2018. Have completed my studies in Civil Engineering in 2018, I changed career path and have been practicing as a railway land surveyor in Paris, France for the past five years. I am currently based on the Metro Line 18 which forms part of the Grand Paris Express and as the Survey Manager it is my role to manage the surveying team and oversee all the surveying aspects of the project- notably, the reference systems, track axis creation, track installation as well as various types of tunnel and viaduct controls. With a passion for precision and detail, we strive to use the latest surveying techniques and collaborate closely with engineers and project managers to ensure accurate and reliable data collection and track implantation. My experience in Railway surveying over the last 5 years, together with my Civil Engineering background has allowed me to develop a keen technical understanding and a strong problem-solving ability.
