About James Fraser

Over 25 years of experience leading product development at Mackenzie Investments and afterwards Russell Investments until 2020. This included launching over thirty funds. My focus was on designing multi-asset, risk management solutions including strategic and dynamic asset allocation, alternative assets and alternative strategies, absolute returns, portfolio insurance, and ETFs. In 2021 I founded True Exposure Investments to address important risks that are not solved by traditional diversification. Exogenous risks originate outside the financial system and have viral properties that impact human capital and investment capital. TruX funds are low cost, medium risk, daily priced and liquid, and completely transparent. Highlights at Mackenzie Investments. • Launched Canada’s first widely available strategic asset allocation program. STAR raised $3B in 3 years. • Co-developed with a national accounting firm the first money market fund to convert income into capital gains. • Co-developed with a Big Five bank one of the first Constant Proportion Portfolio Insurance funds raising $300M. Highlights at Russell Investments. • Built an institutional-style funded ratio planning tool to include non-financial assets such as home equity and inheritances. • Conceived and launched a family of multi-asset solutions focused on absolute returns. Raised $2B. I hold a masters degree in business administration from York University and am a CFA® charterholder.
