Background
About James Gamble
I got into IT in 2002 as a desktop repair tech at a Sprint call center. I had a screwdriver, questionable confidence, and a genuine love for pushing buttons to see what would happen. That first job pulled me straight into the chaotic world of technology, and I never looked back. What started as fixing desktops turned into an obsession with making systems work better, troubleshooting strange problems, and figuring out why things break just so I could make them unbreakable.Over the years, I moved from helpdesk to systems administrator to systems engineer, picking up job titles like achievements in a video game. Every role came with bigger puzzles, more formidable challenges, and new ways to break things before fixing them. I've worked with incredible teams, tackling infrastructure upgrades and stabilizing fragile systems that had no business still standing. Now, as Cloud Operations Manager at Greenway Health, I lead a team that keeps the Greenway Secure Cloud running. We manage vCloud Director, AWS, Windows, and Linux, ensuring our cloud solutions remain reliable, scalable, and secure. My team and I spend our time fine-tuning infrastructure, solving problems before they become outages, and keeping everything running efficiently. I've also taken on the architecture function, which lets me help shape the long-term direction of our cloud platforms. On top of that, I've been exploring AI and how it can improve cloud operations and security monitoring. Before Greenway, I worked with teams at Boomi to build workflows and web apps that cut deployment times in half. At Fintech, ConnectWise, and PwC, I tackled infrastructure overhauls, security improvements, and cloud migrations. Whether it was untangling Active Directory, deploying backup systems, or strengthening security postures, I was in the trenches making systems run smoother and faster.Outside of work, I stay engaged with both tech and local communities. I've contributed as a Subject Matter Expert for CompTIA, helping shape the A+, Network+, and Security+ exams. I also dedicate time to nonprofit organizations, serving in leadership roles that support community development and charitable efforts.I hold certifications in VMware, Linux, and Meraki, but learning doesn't stop. Right now, I'm going deeper into AI and exploring its potential in IT operations and beyond. Whether it's mentoring, troubleshooting, or experimenting with new tech, I'm always up for the next challenge.
