About James Garrett

In my 20+ years at Russelectric I have had the opportunity to work on backup power control and distribution switchgear for some of the most recognizable data centers, casinos, and hospitals in the country. I started out working in the Electrical Testing department, which gave me an understanding of 'how' switchgear works from the inside out. The occasional visit to a customer site made it clear 'why' their switchgear (and it's reliability) was so important. Soon, my interests focused primarily on the PLC automation logic. Troubleshooting and modifying logic programs that were written by engineers in another office was a challenge that I really enjoyed. My experience on the factory floor, as well as in the field, gave me a solid foundation as a PLC / HMI Programmer. Currently, I am the Controls & Automation Manager with responsibility for all Controls and Automation design standards, processes and activities of the company. This includes leading the department vision to align with the company’s growth strategy and annual budgets. My team consists of In-house engineers in offices in Oklahoma and Massachusetts, and several in home office / travel roles to support automation projects in the field.
