About James Gilman

Data Center Operations Management (IT and Facilities): Management in Data Center operations for a global organization. I have worked in all facets of data center operations including; design, build, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity and facility life planning. Besides managing teams and facilities I have actually worked from the ground up in both IT and Critical Environments teams. Currently I am managing the western region for DCS at Microsoft. Over the past 18 years I have been privileged enough to be involved in many bleeding edge projects from enterprise application deployments and testing to data center builds and commissioning. The data center world is always changing and always challenging. Maintaining and operating data centers is a job that does not get recognition unless there is an issue. Past Job Duties: Foreman at a Cabinet Company, where I Managed 3 shifts and delivered thousands of cabinet parts on a daily basis. This is where I learned to use a computer and windows back in 1989. Here I worked my way up from the bottom to the top of the union scale. 8 years’ experience. I then went to college to obtain my technical degree and acquire many certifications that were useful at the time. Including; Netware 3.51, NT 4 MCSE, Networking Essentials, Computer Service Degree. After my experience as a Data Center Manager I worked as San Support lead for global 24/7 break fix and implementation. Supported HP EVA and EMC CX series and DMX technologies. I then came back to the Data Center Manager role but took on the Facility Management side of the house as well which I really enjoyed.
