About James Irvine

After completing six years in the Royal Navy Submarine Service as a Warfare specialist, I felt I needed to head off in a new direction. I adjusted to civilian life as a Fabricator/Welder building valuable technical skills. During this time I joined my local fire station as an on-call firefighter supporting my local community. This is where I found my love of the role and decided to pursue a career in rescue for my primary job. I am now working as a Fire and Rescue technician on the Nuclear new build Hinkley Point C. I have built skills in technical rescue covering a variety of subjects such as Rope rescue, Confined space Rescue and Water rescue. I have built up a solid foundation of knowledge and experience on these subjects. I teach confined space and fire warden courses part time to build experience working as an instructor for a possible future role in this.
