About James Jeckell

J.R. Jeckell, CD Thirty one years of service including countless deployed operations world wide. James served with 2 Air Movements Squadron then joined the Canadian Airborne Regiment and deployed for eight months to Mogadishu, Somalia with UNOSOM. In 1992 he was selected for CC-130 Hercules Loadmaster duties and upon completion of training posted to 429 Sqn, Trenton, Ontario. In 1998 he was selected for tactical aircrew instructor duties at 426 Sqn. In the spring of 2002 he was posted to the newly formed Canadian Forces Joint Support Group Headquarters in Kingston Ontario with the J3/J4 staff. James was selected for the Joint Staff Operations Course, NATO Senior Leadership course in Oberammergauand and the Movement Officers Course. James was then deployed with the CFJHQ in support of the following tours of duty, OP ATHENA (twice), OP Palladium - Roto 15 and OP Augural - African Union Mission (AMIS). Upon return from his last deployment he was selected for and completed a second C-130 aircrew training course and posted to 436 (T) Sqn, Trenton Ontario. James deployed for a third tour in Afghanistan and upon his return appointed Senior Loadmaster at 436 (T) Sqn and selected for C-130J transition training at Little Rock AFB then his C-130J mission qualification training in Channel Islands, California. Upon completion of training he was heavily involved with C-130J crew force training and SCWO transition duties. Upon his retirement in 2011 he joined CAE Canada, involved in C-130J courseware, Fuselage Trainer (FuT) development and simulator testing. Promoted to Manager Trg/Site Operations James leads a dynamic team of CAE professionals at CAE, Trenton, ON providing the RCAF with the very best in simulation/training support. James has been awarded two Command Commendations, five Commander Commendations and was invested by Governor General David Johnson as a Member of the Order of Military Merit in 2010 at Government House.
