I am Dr. James M. Kohan. I have been practicing clinical medicine for 30 years. I am board certified in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Medicine. I did my training in Sleep Medicine at St Mary’s Sleep Center at the University of Rochester, NY back in 1984. At that time there were only 5 sleep labs in the entire USA, and I was part of the initial sleep lab movement. Now there are over sleep centers across the country! At that time, the study of sleep was almost a medical curiosity. Since then, Sleep Medicine has grown to become a recognized specialty of medicine and we’ve realized that sleep affects all aspects of health and disease.
