Being a logic-minded thinker with a proclivity for organization, my approach to things both personal and professional is driven by the desire to know how things work and how to have them in their optimal state. What are standards and best practices, and how might they be improved? Since I was a child, I’ve always had a fascination with the process of learning and the application of acquired knowledge, as far back as my toddler self realizing he could pull out the kitchen drawers to staircase my way up to the kitchen counter as well as the possibilities that would open for me. After being gifted basic literacy by public school education, I read my way up to a college reading level by the time I started middle school. With the rise of the personal computer 1990’s, that fascination with the consumption of information expanded to its communication and manipulation. I experimented lightly with command line inputs and basic scripting, but was more interested by the user-facing capabilities of computing, from office suite and multimedia application software to web technologies. After my first jobs in retail & food service, I was fortunate to contribute my talents in the administration and coordination of a globally dispersed marketing team promoting East Asian musicians in non-Asia territories. I got to meet many of the Japanese rock bands I fervently followed in high school not as a fan, but in a working business capacity. In the years following the closure of that venture, I pursued roles of knowledge work in nature across various industries: SEO, banking, home remodeling, real estate, and financial lending. Behind every working professional inherently lies a personal history. Mine today is that of a rebalanced adult striving to make up for the active career development their younger self was unable to achieve because of the lasting traumas of a tumultuous upbringing. Putting the resulting present-day pressure to make up for lost ground to good use, I’m actively working on completing my required coursework for a degree in business administration. Outside of formal academic study, I’m also independently learning computer programming and database management. When not in front of the computer screen at work or studying, I can usually be found these days outside on a long distance 5+ mile run, cooking in the kitchen, or rendering passable shower karaoke—go on, turn your chair for me, especially if in need of a technologically proficient generalist for an administrative or operational role.
