Background
About James Leonard
I am a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin where I received a Bachelors in Anthropology and Italian Studies with the special distinction of “Departmental Honors” for the former degree. My area of research specifically focused on archaeology with emphasis on the conduction of fieldwork, GIS, museum curation, human osteology, artifact repatriation, and stratigraphic processing. Within my thesis however, the area I specialized in was the Classical World. Egyptology, colonialism, and the Roman Empire were analyzed through my honor's thesis by taking a new approach to different forms of imperilaism. My honors thesis entitled:"Children of the Cult: How Hairstyles Emphasized Imperial Soft Power and Juvenile Gender Hierarchies in Roman-Egypt" is available upon request to employers and academic bodies as I prepare for new job opportunities and graduate programs. Furthermore, my Italian Studies degree has allowed me to achieve professional working proficiency with the Italian language, and has provided me the opportunity to conduct original research and academic studies in a LCTL recognized by the United States Department of State. As a college graduate, I am seeking a position that utilizes my academic skills alongside my strengths with interpersonal communication. I find cultural exchange, bilingual education, foreign diplomatic relations pertaining to arts and education managemet (UNESCO),laboratory and field research, writing, and advocacy all intertwined as passions of mine. I believe that with my unique background, I can combine my passion for archaeology, diplomacy, cultural exchange, and bilingual education into an amazing career. During my time in undergrad, I had the incredible opportunity to visit 11 countries and do NGO volunteer work in two of them. Most recently, I attended an international conference in Hungary regarding antisemitism on college campuses where I had to privilege of speaking and sharing my story. My experiences during my undergraduate years have prepared me for wonderful adventures ahead, and I am eccstatic to embark on a new journey of adulthood using my skills and knowledge.
