About James Liao

Coming from a manufacturing and retail industry I am currently in the phase of transitioning to the software industry. My current interest is to become a developer and software tester in the entertainment industry such as mobile apps, virtual/augmented reality, and video games. One might ask, why the change from manufacturing industry? The reason was because I found myself performing repetitive tasks such as sifting through raw data to compile reports. Eventually I realized that I can drastically reduce the amount of time spent on these tasks by developing my own tools such as VBA macros. Simply creating an automated tool is great but one has to make sure that the automated tools are performing correctly else you get the term, garbage in garbage out. It brings me great joy to see an automated tool fully operational and working correctly. This was the reason why I started to pursue a career in software development and software testing. Some of the traits that my colleagues would describe me as are patient, reflective, deep thinker, attention to detail, curious, and resourceful. I believe that having the ability to paying close attention to detail allow me to become good at picking out discrepancies, trending patterns, and root causes. In addition, being resources and curious has made me into a better problem solver.
