Graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a first class honours Msci degree in Forensic and Analytical Chemistry which included a 1 year industrial placement at GSK, Harlow within Pharmaceutical Development. Moved onto University of East Anglia to complete a PhD (CASE funded by Pfizer) in the use of deep-UV laser induced fluorescence as a detection technique for HPLC before moving to MSD as a Research Chemist within the Pharmaceutical Analytical Chemistry Group in Hoddesdon. Promoted to Senior Research Chemist/Associate Principal Scientist in 2011 and was responsible for a small group of analysts working on a variety of pharmaceutical development programs. During that time I was also a development leader representing pharmaceutical sciences on global clinical development programs. In addition I was the co-lead of Mercks in vitro predictive technologies team and involved in all aspects of biorelevant dissolution. In Feb 2014 I moved onto Molecular Profiles in Nottingham to take on the role of analytical manager looking after the analytical development and QC elements of the pharmaceutical development side of the business. I found after 10 months in the role that I enjoyed more scientific depth and product development than is available within a CRO business and so joined Astrazeneca as an Associate Prinicpal Scientist specialising in in vitro product performance in Jan 2015.
