About James May

Today facilities management is much more complex than when I started in the field. Support service costs can approach 33% of an organization’s expenses, good stewardship can have a significant impact on profitability. My name is James May and for over 35 years as an experienced facilities manager I am aware of the complexity involved in managing large facilities. The relationship among the various entities, space planning, procurement, distribution, vendor management, dietary, housekeeping, maintenance, security and energy management require the use of modern technologies and processes if any significant impact can be made on facilities costs. To that end I have developed a proprietary turnkey solution called fifis(Fully Integrated Facilities Information Systems.), a powerful culmination of technology, experience and comprehensive data collection to develop an authoritative holistic view of the enormous amount of a facilities data. Architected from the “ground up” the platform allows for flexible client implementations at a fraction of the cost. In the course of my career I have worked on tugboats, oil rigs, hotels, hospitals, power plants, schools and colleges. I understand the business because I have done it from many different aspects. Among my accomplishments is the major role I played in turning around 2 different hospitals (Marlboro Hospital, Jewish Memorial Hospital) when everyone thought they couldn’t be saved. I consider myself a steward of a company’s assets; I am the building’s voice. My job is to satisfy management’s goals and objectives but not at the expense of the assets. Buildings and assets are usually still there long after any employee comes and goes and I feel it is my job to leave them in better shape than when I first got there.
