About James McIntosh

Following graduating with a BA(Hons) degree from the Robert Gordon University during the Covid-19 pandemic I began work as an Insurance Broker for Blackford Group. It has been hugely engaging entering the unknown world of insurance, but I have since found similarities between the insurance industry and my university studies! Coupled with the excellent support of the fantastic Blackford team I am loving the new role. Working with clients to try and achieve the best results for them is very rewarding! I achieved my Certificate in Insurance in August 2022 after less than 6 months in the industry and I am now working towards my Diploma and ACII thereafter. I have also been a council member of the Insurance Institute of Aberdeen since April 2022 and took up the roles of Education Secretary and Careers Officer in April 2023. This involves planning and organising CPD across the whole Aberdeen Institute and I have also put a key focus on promoting the insurance industry to the next generation. In addition I have raised almost for various charitable causes, and was one of only 2 students at my university selected to undertake a semester of study abroad in Australia.
