About James Moody

James has over 10 years research experience and 7 years’ experience working on complex international projects ranging from conflict, gender and political economy analysis, humanitarian needs assessments to social and behavioural change projects (SBCC). He has previously conducted work in conflict-affected states with a particular focus on Libya and South Sudan. James has worked as a research consultant with Bodhi Global Analysis focusing on security sector reform (SSR) in East, Central and West Africa, addressing violence against women and girls (VAWG) in South Sudan, Tanzania and Nigeria, conflict, climate and the Triple Nexus in Somalia, evaluations of peacebuilding programmes in Mali, Central African Republic, South Sudan, Libya and Yemen and health and education programmes in Sierra Leone and Tanzania. Clients include UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP, UN Women, Oxfam, Save the Children, SFCG, CARE International, Danish Refugee Council, World Bank and Mercy Corps. At M&C Saatchi, James led a multi-disciplinary team to design and evaluate social and behavioural change campaigns, focusing on Africa and the Middle East, led the 2018-19 Libya Multi-Sector Needs Assessment for REACH Initiative in Tunisia and Libya, a joint initiative of IMPACT, ACTED and the United Nations Operational Satellite Applications Programme (UNOSAT) and coordinated research as the Africa Research Manager for the Armed Conflict Location & Event Data Project (ACLED). While studying for a PhD at the University of Sussex, he was involved in projects with the Clingendael Institute, European Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) and has worked closely with practitioners from the UN, World Bank and the ICC.
