About James Nichols

I worked at Lexmark for twenty+ years in the Test Engineering department. I began as a 3D mechanical designer in an apprenticeship program. I transitioned through the entire process: from CAD design, to working with model shops to fabricate, mechanical assembly, cable design and build, control box design and assembly, software development, and finally production deployment and ongoing support.Writing software using NI LabVIEW is what has caught my interest since ~1997. It's okay to have fun!I excel at developing LabVIEW applications to meet the challenges of our in-house R&D departments and international contract manufacturers. I have over twelve years of developing and supporting equipment for Chinese manufacturing locations. Including travel for production builds and providing training. I enjoy helping others increase their LabVIEW skills and knowledge through user group meetings and one-on-one consultation. I have mentored many co-workers in passing the CLD and CLA exams. At L3Harris, I design in-house software for development and manufacturing test systems in the space craft test engineering department, primarily focused on satellite communication systems. The test systems used in production are the same used by development for early design and prototyping of the product.I've created standardization procedures and templates for software developers at the Mason facility including new project templates, shared library structure, and top-level architecture.
