About James Petrin

A respected dermatologist and published researcher, Dr. James Petrin holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and Accounting from the University of Washington (UW) and a Doctor of Medicine from the UW School of Medicine. Before he launched his career in the medical field, Dr. Petrin acted as a Certified Public Accountant for Arthur Andersen LLP and Campos & Stratis. In the former position, Dr. Petrin served as an auditor for companies in the medical industry, and he acted as a consultant to insurance firms in his position with Campos & Stratis. In 1990, following his work in accounting, Dr. James Petrin returned to the University of Washington to begin studying for his medical degree. Four years later, he earned induction into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society and graduated with honors with an MD. From 1994 to 1998, Dr. Petrin undertook a yearlong internship in internal medicine followed by a residency position in dermatology. After completing his full course of advanced training in dermatology, Dr. James Petrin began practicing as a board-certified dermatologist at Advanced Dermatology & Skin Surgery. Following a year’s service at this clinic, Dr. Petrin joined the Puyallup Dermatology Clinic, where he acted as owner and dermatologist. In 2006, he completed work at the Puyallup Dermatology Clinic and opened another practice in the greater Seattle metropolitan region called the Woodinville Dermatology Center, which he directs through Sound Dermatology and Skin Surgery, PLLC. Moreover, since Dr. James Petrin has served on the Clinical Faculty of the University of Washington School of Medicine. An active member of many prominent industry organizations, Dr. James Petrin acted as the Secretary Treasurer of the Washington State Dermatology Association (WSDA) for six consecutive years beginning in In his free time, Dr. Petrin enjoys cycling, skiing, and hiking.
