Background
About James Post
I have worked at Raleigh Hand to Shoulder Center for over 20 years after completing my fellowship in Hand, Upper extremity and Microsurgery at the University of Florida. I am originally from Columbus, Ohio. Service outside of the office is important to me and I am currently active in my local Kiwanis Club and have been engaged in medical mission trips to Nicaragua. I enjoy golfing, fishing and reading along with spending time with my wife and grandchildren. My goal in treating patients is to build a relationship of trust through compassion and encouragement. Fortunately, many issues with the hand and arm are simple to treat with a quick recovery to full function. Communication is extremely important so I strive to give an overview of the entire course of treatment, expected recovery and rehabilitation required. Many patients get discouraged when they don’t have a timeline on how they should be progressing. I do not employ Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners, so you will always have direct contact with me. Even simple sprains, strains and lacerations require judgement from a physician to optimize outcome and to prevent delay in treatment. Direct communication with in-house Certified Hand Therapists and Physical Therapists improves outcomes. Over the years, I have kept up with advances in hand to shoulder surgery. I discuss all options including the latest treatments but am candid about the treatment’s track record. If I wouldn’t use a device or treatment on a family member I would not recommend it for my patient. I have advanced training in the following: Carpal tunnel syndrome and other nerve compressions Trigger finger and other Tendinopathies such as Tennis elbow Rotator Cuff surgery, Reverse Shoulder arthroplasty and Total Shoulder arthroplasty Wrist fractures, finger fractures, elbow fractures, shoulder fractures Dupuytren’s Disease Osteoarthritis of the finger, thumb, wrist, elbow and shoulder Inflammatory diseases such as Rheumatoid Arthritis and Gout Nerve, tendons and arterial injuries Congenital Hand diseases (birth defects)- Texas Scottish Rite Hospital Please contact Raleigh Hand to Shoulder Center at (919) 872-3171 to schedule an appointment.
