About James Pountney
I am a geologist undertaking the sedimentary and petrographic analysis of potential reservoirs from the North Sea, the Norwegian Sea and offshore Namibia. Previously I have worked as a wireline engineer which involved data acquisition, processing and reporting of wireline data. This was done for construction, geothermal, drinking and waste water, and contamination projects across the UK and Ireland. I graduated from the University of Liverpool with an MESci in Geology with a specialisation in petroleum geomechanics. My integrated masters research project involved studying the reservoir geomechanics of a variety of typical reservoir rocks, as part of a larger in-situ combustion PhD research project looking at the implications of developing green hydrogen from depleted oil fields.
