In life we often look at the straightaways, running full speed like an F12berlinetta, never thinking about downshifting for the curbs that lay ahead. They do not feel the exhilaration in their soul from the sound of the engine as it redlines through the apex, blasting out like a Titan from its silo. This exhilaration is the same feeling James Powell gets when working on integrated marketing, the brand story being the straightaway and the marketing channels the sound of the V12 roaring. When you hire someone for any position, passion and explosion of ideas should be the guiding light. The person who does things the same because “that is how it has always been,” is the cause of mediocrely. You need someone who does not believe in the status quo, who does not believe in no-win situations. Someone who knows one in a million in the United States means there is 317 people just like them and must set him or herself apart from the rest. James Powell is just such a person. Willing to do what it takes to make a project successful. Willing to do the research, willing to put in the long hours, and willing to get dirty, working along side those that produce the product, to learn every aspect of the product. He does not see just the here and now, he sees the past and the future in everything he does. “I tend to look not at what a company is doing, but what it could be doing. Setbacks are temporary and not a reason to quit. If anything, I see failure as a part of the learning process. What motivates me the most is my passion, which allows me to clearly see the vision. I like to look at issues creatively and from different angles and I'm not afraid to challenge the status quo. In general, I am less concerned with being publicly recognized, but more so with attaining personal fulfillment.
