About James R. Olson

I have had a varied career—first in the nonprofit sector and now as a mental health counselor/psychotherapist. I have always made it my mission to improve the lives of others. My specialty as a counselor is in the treatment of addiction and indulgence related issues. However, my deeply held core belief is that systems of addiction affect all people living in developed nations today. And as such, we all have work to do to heal from patterns of indulgence and addictive behavior that have exacerbated human suffering historically. This is why I created the Deep Recovery Initiative, a wrap-around program for disengaging from overconsumption, anything ranging from drug addiction to bad shopping habits or too much social media scrolling. I have developed copy, design work, consulted on brand strategy, led strategizing workshops, and more for various nonprofits across the country. I take on these jobs on a by-request basis.
