About James Romanchek

I am currently working as a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Lead Safety Programs Specialist at Amtrak, covering the whole national system. I am responsible both for safety and exposure assessments as well as for developing, revising, and maintaining Amtrak's corporate occupational safety programs. I also work in conjunction with the construction safety department and the environmental department since I have extensive background in both aspects of safety and industrial hygiene. Past professional experience includes working as a certified industrial hygienist and project manager in the environmental services and consulting field for Louis Berger Group (later WSP), where I oversaw multi million dollar environmental projects and served as the national program's CIH. I have over 15 years professional experience working in the environmental services and safety field with a focus on building assessments and industrial hygiene. I have experience working as a corporate health and safety officer, and within the Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy fields. While still in school, I had experience with watershed research, monitoring, restoration, and management, and have also published several academic papers, including one on renewable energy policy and one on nanotechnology policy. I also have experience as a research assistant in a laboratory and a non-laboratory setting.
