About James Roper

As a Prison Officer with Unlocked Graduates, I am part of a cohort of outstanding individuals who are trained and challenged to lead prisoner rehabilitation and break the cycles of reoffending in prisons and society. I apply my skills in leadership, problem solving, and communication to manage complex and dynamic situations, support prisoners' wellbeing and development, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders. I am also passionate about learning and expanding my knowledge and perspectives in history and criminology, which inform my understanding of the social and cultural contexts of imprisonment and crime. I hold a BA in Modern History and Politics from the University of Southampton. I am currently pursuing an MA in History at the same university, and an MSc in Applied Custodial Leadership at Leeds Trinity University.
