Background
About James Rueff
My Interests My interest is to practice in a clinical setting. I enjoy Urgent Care, Emergency, and Primary care medicine. My preference is for part-time employment, a mixed full-time schedule, or PRN. I am available for Locum Tenens employment. I have enjoyed my time delivering Mobile Urgent Care to people in their homes in my current position. I have a degree in Education as well as many years of experience in education through my military employment. I currently reside in Tampa but am open to relocation. My Motivation I listened to a lecturer once say, “Your work is going to fill a large part of your life and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. Don’t be trapped by Dogma. Don’t let the noise of others' opinions drown out your inner voice. Most importantly, develop the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want.” As a freshman in my military boarding school, I was taken under the wing of a scrappy, crusty retired Navy Warrant Officer; one of the early Physician Assistants. Later, after graduation, I attended college in hopes of a Navy Pilot career and found myself stumbling and not going anywhere. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and no idea how college was going to help me figure it out. I joined the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman and became a Clinical Laboratory Technician working clinical and preventive medicine. It was impossible to connect the dots looking forward when I was first in college. But it was very, very clear looking backward 10 years later while attending The George Washington University School for Physician Assistant education. It all came back to me, a passion for medicine and helping others. If I had never worked for that early Physician Assistant, I may never have discovered my passion for medicine. So, I had to trust that the dots would somehow connect in the future. You have to trust in something – your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. Because believing the dots will connect down the road gave me the confidence to follow my passion even when it led me off the well-worn path and that made all the difference. I was lucky, I found what I loved to do early in life. I retired from the Navy after 37 years of service and returned to civilian employment in Dec 2021. I worked hard, and 26 years later I still enjoy my position as a Physician Assistant and teaching others about the profession.
