About James Sheldon

I am an experienced Senior AEGIS Technician with 24 years of military service, specializing in the AEGIS Weapon System (AWS) and its associated subsystems. I have a proven track record of advising senior leadership on system configurations, casualty response, and reconfiguration to minimize downtime and maintain mission readiness. With deep expertise in AEGIS B/L 5 through 9, I am skilled in tracking and reporting on CASREPs, coordinating parts procurement, and ensuring operational readiness for both the AWS and its related weapon systems. I have extensive experience providing on-site training to Sailors, from junior to senior levels, in areas including maintenance requirements, system troubleshooting, technical best practices, and ship’s electronic readiness teams (SERT). I am also well-versed in supporting training cycles and ensuring proper documentation, cataloging, and use of critical test equipment, software, and configuration items. My role has included attending ship scheduling meetings to deconflict maintenance requirements and providing hands-on support during ship inspections, including INSURV and other major milestones. A strong communicator and problem-solver, I collaborate with stakeholders and higher authorities to resolve issues and ensure the timely restoration of shipboard systems. My leadership and mentorship skills have contributed to the development of junior personnel and the successful completion of training objectives. I thrive in dynamic environments and am committed to improving system readiness, reducing impact to mission performance, and ensuring a seamless alignment between operational requirements and maintenance execution.
