About James Shimic

I recently changed careers into engineering after about 2 years in math education. Working as a high school math teacher was an invaluable personal and professional experience. Finishing my BSE in Mechanical Engineering at CU Boulder while working at Hirsh Precision has marked my transition in the awesome world of precision manufacturing. My first year at CU was highlighted by the design and testing of an assistive device for persons with limited upper limb mobility that allowed them to control a computer mouse with wrist movements. My final year was highlighted by the design, testing, and manufacturing of an adjustable, pediatric prosthetic lower leg and foot prototype. I proudly supported my team in a project management role from product design and manufacturing to the formation of Limbfinity, LLC and initial steps towards a utility patent for parts of the OneLimb prosthetic assembly. Now, I am excited to be beginning my engineering career at Hirsh Precision.My main career goal is to continue to have a positive impact on human health by supporting the manufacturing and design of medical device components.
