About James Shipman
I work as a Senior Ecologist for Jacobs providing advice and information on Protected species. Outside of work i am heavily involved with training and research around Bats. Previous chair of the Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire Bat Group, i also run a European Bat research project that i helped set up in 2013 in Gibraltar, Gib-Bats. Through this project I have helped train and mentor locals in Gibraltar. Within the last 10 years we have already discovered at least 5 new species for the area. In 2016 I won the Bat Conservation Trusts Pete Guest Award for outstanding contribution to Bat Conservation. From 2018 I will be contributing towards research in Southern Spain and potentially long term studies could involve Algeria and Morocco.
