About James Singleton

With over 25 years of experience in fire and emergency services, I am a passionate and dedicated public safety leader and arson investigator. My mission is to protect lives and property, prevent and mitigate fires, and uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. As a captain at the Harris County Fire Marshal's Office, I lead a division of 30 staff members, oversee capital asset tracking, drive technological enhancements, and formulate professional development strategies. I also serve on the board of directors for the Texas Chapter of the International Association of Arson Investigators, collaborating with elected officials and community partners to advance the field of fire investigation and education. In my current role, I manage the response to over 3,800 annual fire incidents, ranging from residential to industrial, from accidental to intentional. I leverage my expertise and certifications in fire investigation, law enforcment, and digital forensics to collect and analyze evidence, conduct interviews, and prepare reports and testimonies. Additionally, I have received the HCFMO Life Saving Award for rescuing a kayaker in distress on Towne Lake in 2015. On a personal level, I have been married for almost 20 years to the same beautiful wife, who works as a Critical Care Physician Assistant at Texas Children's Hospital. We enjoy camping, skiing, and spending time as a family.
