About James Smith

I love to work as a team to teach, mentor, and support students in every way possible. My life has been about the service industry. Starting at Scaramouche Restaurant, I advanced to Executive Chef, TV personality, Research and Development Chef, completed an MBA, became a Professor, Program Coordinator, Chair, and Associate Dean, and now the first V.P. of Academics at Pures College of Technology. I am a proponent of Serve Leadership, and excel at bringing people, and teams together, through consultation, clear inclusive communication, engagement, and collaboration. I believe that as a team, identifying change management needs, setting clear goals, and outcomes with all stakeholders input, will lead to both team, and community success. Developing, supporting, and ensuring every member has the tools, to meet, and exceed those outcomes, is my VISION. I have managed budgets exceeding $20M. I have presented on multiple panels, co-published papers, supported my staff to develop countless industry partnerships locally, and globally. All of this comes second to my underlying passion and drive, to support a team in creating opportunities that lead to students, team, and individual successes, through academic excellence. Promoting safe, diverse, equitable, inclusive, work, and high quality learning environments, to be successful, innovative, entrepreneurial, and technology driven, is my MISSION.
