Extensive chief of staff, operational and risk management experience in maritime, commercial, military and cross-governmental entities. A background in crisis management, nautical operations and security at tactical, operational and board levels. Significant financial budget experience including multi-million pound Maritime HR budget. Substantial project management, continuous improvement and quality assurance experience including Project Director responsibilities in the delivery of a destroyer from shipyard to operations ahead of schedule. An experienced mariner with over 20 years’ military service culminating in command of a new build £1 billion warship. Qualified navigator, hydrographic surveyor and meteorologist. Articulate, media trained and with first-rate coaching and mentoring skills honed through leading a spectrum of teams from small specialist groups to over 200 personnel. Passionate about team performance, technology, high reliability and operational safety in an international environment. Conducting a research PhD in the subject with Bournemouth University's Disaster Management Centre. Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society Associate Fellow of the Nautical Institute Member Chartered Management Institute Qualified DPA and ISM Auditor
