About James Sullivan

I'm passionate about corporate governance and risk mitigation. The diverse range of matters I have led and contributed to at ASIC has allowed me to build a strong understanding of laws and regulations that temper the banking, finance and fin-tech industries. In 2021, I was awarded the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Government Award for my work in the government space. In 2022, I was awarded the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Banking and Finance Award for my regulatory work in the banking and finance sector. I have experience enforcing market integrity rules, directors' duties, insider trading and market manipulation prohibitions, client money laws, and continuous disclosure. During my time at ASIC, I have developed experience in civil, criminal and administrative areas of law, which ensures that I bring a holistic legal understanding to every issue I encounter. I am a proven leader with strong management skills, having led teams of 10+ people. I pride myself on managing large teams well, ensuring high team morale and motivation. In my experience, a motivated team can achieve the same as a team three times the size! Finally, my time at Youth Without Borders as a director and chairman of the Board has allowed me to form a well-rounded perspective of the limited resources organisations can have and how to best prioritise to ensure that an organisation can still function effectively while mitigating key risks.
