About James Tanner

I began my clerking career at Monckton Chambers in 2010, starting as the most junior clerk before being elevated to run a team of junior clerks. Towards the end of my time at Monckton I found myself as an integral part of the clerking team with all communication between the senior team and junior team going through me. At Quadrant, I was responsible for overseeing the team of junior clerks and work closely with the practice managers and senior clerk during the course of the working day. I assist with the fixing of cases and fee negotiation. I made the move from Quadrant over to 4 Pump Court at the beginning of November 2019. In October 2024 my time at 4 Pump Court came to an end. I had moved from Assistant Practice Manager to Practice Manager and gained valuable experience within many practice areas that were alien to me at the start (Construction, Tech, Insurance etc.) whilst maintaining my experience in the Shipping/Marine team. I have just returned to Quadrant Chambers in an elevated role as Practice Manager and relish the opportunity to run my own team and take my career to the next level. I am a qualified member of the IBC and have achieved the IBC B-TEC award in Chambers administration.
