About James Townsend

I’m the Co-Founder and CEO of Mobilise, where we’re redesigning how the UK supports unpaid carers.Every day, millions of people care for loved ones while navigating complex systems, long waiting lists, and a lack of timely support. I started Mobilise because the status quo wasn’t working — for carers, for local authorities, or for the wider social care system. Our approach combines- Digital innovation to make support accessible 24/7- A highly engaged national community of over carers- Evidence-based tools like the new Dynamic Carer’s Assessment- Deep partnerships with local authorities, CSOs, NHS teams and researchersWe’re now working with a quarter of all English local authorities, helping them meet their statutory duties, reduce waiting lists, and build more preventative, human-centred services. Early evidence shows clear impact: 62% of carers feel able to continue caring for longer after using our support, and social workers testing our assessment tools consistently report major time savings.I’m motivated by a simple belief:If we listen to carers - properly - we can transform outcomes at scale. If you’re working on social care transformation, digital inclusion, or carer support, I’d love to connect.
