About James Whitehurst

I have 10+ years of experience as a multi-craft mechanic, electrician, and equipment operator. Currently I work for the DuPont Sorona plant as a CP Power Operator, providing all utilities needed to power the process plant. As part of my responsibilities, I monitor and control utilities at the site and if problems exist, I problem-solve and repair issues quickly so that the processes continue to function. Before I worked at DuPont, I worked for Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital and EJE Recycling, Inc. Because of my diverse experience, I’m able to think through situations and apply what I already know in order to make a solid decision quickly. What I am most proud of is having the reputation as the "The Go To Guy" for repairing complex problems and getting projects done in a timely matter. No matter what task I’m given, I’m determined to figure out what to do to make repairs and get the equipment back running. I earned my General Contractor License in 2010. Some of my experiences include: Operate and maintain high pressure boilers, chillers, cooling towers, vaporizers & associated equipment, air compressor piston/centrifugal type, fire systems, and well headers Electrical support ranging from 120/240 single phase up to 277/480 3 phase also low voltage, and internet cable issues. Large recycling jobs requiring use of M&J Shredder, concrete crusher, screeners, bull dozers, front end loaders, off road dump trucks, excavators and material processers 16 years as a certified bird taxidermist and owner of Whitehurst Waterfowl Taxidermy I’m available to network or discuss new opportunities.
