About James Wright

I have 30 years of forestry experience in all facets of government operations. The majority of my career (26.5 years) was spent with the Kentucky Division of Forestry. My career with KDF included 18 years within the supervisor ranks. I began as an entry level forester, through every level of field supervisor ranks, and culminated as being appointed Director of the agency for the final years of my tenure. Upon retirement, I founded Wright Forestry LLC to continue working within the forestry sector. I am currently contracting with the National Association of State Foresters as their Forestry Partnership Coordinator. During my career, I have provided executive leadership and supervisory guidance of forestry related services including natural resource management technical assistance and executing cooperative programs on state and private land. In addition, I have had the opportunity to build coalitions internally and with other entities such as state and local governments, nonprofit organizations, private sector organizations, and landowners. My extensive background in government forestry operations has given me the experience needed to lead people, manage projects, and build sustainable partnerships that bolsters forest management success both locally and nationally. I enjoy new challenges and taking a lead role as jobs expand and evolve to meet today's world, while anticipating the future's need.
