About Jami Meeker

I was born and raised near Akron in Northeast, Ohio. I have lived in this area most of my life. While in middle school I demonstrated a facility for foreign languages. Eventually this cultivated an interest in international studies. By the time I enrolled at Kent State University I was already on my way to fluency in French. When I left six years later, and with three degrees to my name, I had added Russian as a third language. In my first professional experience I worked with immigrants and refugees from around the world at the International Institute of Akron. I coordinated a bank of community volunteers and professionals to provide translation and interpreting services to people as diverse as individuals relocating from Western Europe to families fleeing the war torn lands of Bosnia, Serbia, The Sudan and Iraq. From there I moved to a wholly different environment at McMaster-Carr Supply Company where I work primarily with French-speaking clients in Quebec. A year spent in the Marketing Department sparked a desire to understand global business from the administrative side. I returned to school and studied international marketing and logistics on my way to earning an International MBA at Baldwin Wallace University in 2012. I am currently preparing for the Customs Broker License Examination at the department of the United States Customs and Border Protection.
