About Jamie Bartley

With over five years employed as a Paraprofessional, I have the experience and knowledge that is needed to work in the educational field, specializing in a classroom setting with students. My first job as a paraprofessional was in the PERL program (Program for Effective Relationships and Learning (Formerly ED)). I was entirely unprepared for the trying occupation I was about to enter, as I was fresh out of college, but I stuck with the position for over a year. It was difficult, mentally challenging, and often downright exhausting, but I learned a lot about students and their needs, as well as underwent my first CPI (NCPI) training that year. After over five years as a paraprofessional, I have come to learn this fundamental ideology: Students thrive in an open, loving and communicative setting that meets their needs with proper accommodations and modifications, as well as one that also treats them as capable individuals who will need to learn boundaries and societal standards in order to function properly in society, regardless if they are in SPED programs or not. Positive reinforcement is a wonderful way to teach all students the behavior expected within the classroom. Aside from my work in the classroom setting, I have also worked as a car washer, cashier and customer service representative. I'm a well-rounded individual who has a drive and passion to grow in the workplace. I believe everyone should be happy where they work, should feel good about what they do and should leave work "at work" when they day is done. As a writer, I have honed my typing and computer skills to a pretty fine degree. I've published my book "Levendom: The Fall of Elvenkind" on Amazon; this was a book that took me over five years to write. This book was an example of what I could do if I put my mind to it, a reminder that I can accomplish something if I dedicate the proper time to it.
