About Jamie Carr

I am currently working as a patrol deputy at the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to that, I worked at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office. I have had the opportunity to be involved with police work for approximately 4 years. When tasked with an incident, I have a strong desire to stick with it until the matter is resolved, regardless of the severity. In doing so, I have had the opportunity to solve, or assist with solving a variety of crimes. I am a graduate of Ferrum College. My course of study is a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice with a focus in Applied Criminology. I am pleased to inform you that as my time as a student, I achieved the Dean’s List title for every single semester. While a student, I have also balanced the task of coaching the Men’s Club Wrestling team. As a result, I am well equipped in the areas of time management, leadership, and responsibility. In addition to this work, I have also been employed by Ferrum College for work study, where I oversaw submitting payroll for other students who were a part of the Men’s Wrestling work study. My work experience has afforded me the opportunity to gain experience as team leader. In addition to my employment as a coach for Ferrum College, my experience in the Virginia Army National Guard as a Sergeant has helped me to continue to develop my leadership skills, as well as the ability to work with a large variety of people. The Virginia Army National Guard has given me the opportunity to reinforce quality decision-making skills. Throughout the course of my military career, I have served as a squad leader, which gave me responsibility over lower-enlisted soldiers and future Non-Commissioned Officers. I addition to this, I was given the opportunity to work in sales as a Wireless Expert at Sprint by Vision Mobile, a preferred retailer. I was able to work my way through the ranks of Store Manager and District Manager. I separated from Vision Mobile to progress my sales career with MobileNow, a bigger preferred retailer with Sprint. I started as a Store Manager for a short period of time and was promoted to District Manager. I was responsible for 30+ employees, scheduling, inventory, driving sales and coaching/mentoring Wireless Experts and Store Managers.
