I have been involved in professional football since the age of 10, seeing many sides of the business within this time. I have now had 20 years of scouting in football, starting as a part time scout on expenses only, rising to Head of Recruitment at a Championship club and setting up from scratch, a successful recruitment and analytical department. In between, I have been a Chief Scout, Head of UK Scouting and Head of European Recruitment at some great clubs. I have gained promotion with all but one of the clubs I have worked for, winning two play off finals and been involved in Cup Finals. I am very personable and have forged many long standing relationships over the years, in the UK and abroad, this is one of my strongest assets, along with spotting talent and understanding the parameters of the club I am working for. The easiest thing is to find a player, the hardest thing is to figure out whether or not they would fit in to the structure of the club, the list of players that I have recommended and signed over the years, demonstrates that I excel in this area. I am a team player for sure, but equally I am very comfortable working on my own, which is often the case when scouting. I understand the economics of the industry well, I am well adept at working on a limited budget, as well as working with a strong budget,and this does not faze me at all. Over the years, I have been involved the the loan and/or permanent signings of players that have been sold for many millions of pounds, gained international recognition and featured heavily in World Cup Finals, which I am extremely proud of.
