About Jamie Kirkpatrick

I have done my best to help people overcome emotional pain and various life difficulties. My passion is helping people through traumatic situations, whether current or past, including those who have allowed dissociation to be a dominant coping skill. Experiences of past and repeated abuse (e.g, sexual, physical, emotional) is especially wrought with emotional pain and can bring about many difficulties in life, personally, socially, professionally, and definitely in relationships. Those who have coped using dissociation effectively, can sometimes find that it no longer serves them well as adults. Some even develop multiple personalities as an extreme way of dealing with their pain. Therefore, this is my specialty. I have also worked with depression, anxiety, stress, personality disorders, severe mental disorders, mindfulness and spirituality (I am a Christian therapist), relationship issues, parenting, and much more. I have reaped great experience from working in different settings, both in-patient and out-patient, and have benefitted from consulting with excellent colleagues along the way. I also do a lot of supervision with interns which is a great adjunct to my practice and thoroughly satisfying as a therapist. I co-authored the book,"The Authentic Parent: Developing Your Natural Gifts to Become the Parent You Always Wanted to be" and I am excited at the prospect of writing more in the future about subjects focusing on such things as trauma, sexual abuse, empathy, ethics & moral values, spirituality, the overmedicating of America, etc. Right now, a main focus in my life is helping underserved populations of children, adolescents, and their families which I am doing through our non-profit, All-Desert Wellness Centers. We were tired of seeing so many people "fall through the cracks" & wanted to bridge the gap between those with access to all resources and those with none, thus ADWC was created.
