About Jamie Nicholson

Jamie fell in love with yoga when she first began practicing at the age of 19. She explored many styles of yoga and developed a passion for hot power yoga while working as a manager at a Baptiste-affiliate studio. Her dedication to her own practice and to her local yoga community led her to enroll in and complete True Power Teacher Training. She earned her 200-hour yoga teacher certification and gained a greater appreciation for the self-inquiry aspect of her practice. Jamie is dedicated to growing her personal practice and leading her students from experience. Following her initial certification, she completed two more Baptiste Yoga trainings, the Unstoppable program and Art of Assisting, as well as multiple continuing ed courses through Yoga International. Jamie began teaching yoga at an addiction recovery in 2020. This opportunity inspired her to expand her training from a fitness-based approach to a more therapeutic approach. She began guiding her clients through meditations and learning about somatic healing methods, such as breath work. She has worked with clients of all ages, physical abilities and backgrounds. Recognizing the importance of the mind-body-spirit connection, she now leads various populations through physical and mindfulness practices based on the needs, goals and accessibility of each individual or group. Whether she is teaching yoga to kids, guiding meditations, or leading a chair yoga class for heart patients, Jamie believes yoga is for every body. She tailors each session according to the unique individual and enjoys creatively combining postures and mindfulness in a way that encourages her students to challenge themselves, while also accepting where they are in the moment. Jamie lives in Lafayette, La and teaches at various facilities in the Acadiana area. She also offers in-home and online sessions. She became a global ambassador for Africa Yoga Project in 2019, leading a fundraising campaign for the nonprofit organization. She is committed to accessing her truest self on and off the mat and encourages self-exploration and possibility through the practice of yoga.
