Background

About Jamie Nimmo

I am a current Masters student studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington. I am passionate about Environmental and Wellbeing Economics, particularly concerning their applications to building a more sustainable and equitable economic system. Alongside my studies I completed an internship at WEAll - Aotearoa, where I assisted with advice and research on numerous reports and projects. In conjunction with WEAll, I have formed the Students for a Wellbeing Economy Club at Te Herenga Waka. This club will provide opportunities for students to learn about the various aspects of the wellbeing economy through purpose-led talks and interactive discussion panels led by academics and change-makers. I recently completed my research project titled; The True Value of Nature: Rethinking Economic Evaluations of New Zealand’s National Parks, for which I received an A+ grade. Through this project I have deepened my understanding of the role nature plays within our economic systems, the value of biodiversity, and the importance of stakeholder engagement, as well as enhanced my report writing skills. If you would like access to my research project feel free to email me at jamie.nimmo1@gmail.com. I am currently seeking opportunities to apply my skills in the public sector in a policy-related role.
